I recently wrapped a :55 minute workout at Orange Theory and I have the sweat to prove it. If you’re looking to break a sweat and burn over 700 calories in a fun and friendly environment, then work Orange Theory into your weekly regimen. The 2800 sq.ft studio in Miami is a great size for feeling comfortable and relaxed getting a good workout in unlike other gyms that often feel huge and intimidating. Their training methods consist of cardiovascular intervals , strength training, using a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, TRX® bands and free weights to tone your body and gain energy.
The facility is clean and equipped and I was pleasantly greeted by all of the staff members. After quick paperwork, the staff gives you a heart monitor with a band that goes around your chest, placed right below your sternum.
The heart monitor keep a record of your heart rat and tracks its progress from normal to maximum. The idea is to keep the heart rate at an orange level, which indicates that you’re burning fat at about 85% of your maximum heart rate. You can see your heart rate and other participants on a big screen TV’s that surround the gym. The monitor is great for you and the trainer to keep track of the heart rate levels, so when it drops below the fat burning zone, the trainer will guides you to pick up the pace.
My workout consisted of multiple stations starting with 23 minutes of HIIT (height intensity interval training) on a treadmill going from speed levels 3-9. This was followed by workouts that involved multiple station of abs workout, TRX bands, free weights, calisthenics, and rowing . The vibe of the workout was upbeat with a mix of hip-hop and EDM to get you up and going. The master trainer Jeff Schwartzer did a fantastic job pushing and motivating the clients to do give it their all. Overall, I enjoyed my cardio circuit at Orange Theory and would recommend it for anyone that is looking to burn calories, hence fat and improve their overall cardiovascular status.
More on the Orange Theory Philosophy:
Base. Push. All Out. Fitness, meet science. The idea of Orange theory is this: a 60-minute workout designed to push you into the Orange Zone. This creates “Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption,” or EPOC. It’s what burns calories after your workout and gives you noticeable, lasting results with Orange theory Fitness.
